The Czech Mt. Manaslu 2006 Light Expedition CZ has reached the Manaslu summit on the beginning of October 2006. The first members of the expedition Zuzana Hofmannová and František Kolář reached the summit Manaslu (8163m) via Japan route on October 2nd 2006, Pavel Matoušek reached the top on October 3rd 2006. Zuzana Hofmannová became the first Czech woman who was on Manaslu summit. After the ascent to summit of Shisha Pangma 8013 m (in 2004) it is her 2nd 8000 metres high mountain. The expedition had members: Pavel Matoušek, Olga Nováková, Zuzana Hofmannová, František Kolář and Miroslav Churavý. According to available information only two Czechs toped the Manaslu up to now: Josef Rakoncaj (1989) and Martin Minařík (1999). The new ascent was in non traditional light „nonexpedition“ style, without standard service in base camp (without cook, without tents from the local agencies,...), without fixed progress camps and without help of Sherpas and without oxygen.
