Czech victory on southern hemisphere

The outdoor National Bouldering Series  took part in New Zealand in February and March 2007.

(The official website of the competition: www.nbs.org.nz). There were four competitions in total, two on the North Island in Baring Head and Waitamo, two on the South Island in Jardines and Castle Hill. Climbers could have chosen between seven entrant categories. There were male and female divisions for the recreational, expert and junior expert categories and one mixed gender division in the junior recreational category. All competitions ran for 5 hours, starting at 10:00am and finishing at 3:00pm.
Recreational category
This category was open to any competitor as a 'boulder marathon'. 1 point for each completed climb, regardless of 'V' grade.

Expert category
This category was also open to any competitor. A competitor's best 8 climbs in the 5 hrs of competition were count. Points were allocated using the 'Fibonacci' number system based on the standard 'V' grading system.

Overall winners
Overall winners of the u16 Junior Expert category were Georgia Orme (female) and Bob (Zac) Keegan (male). In the Open Expert category, it turn out to be the massive Czech success. Jan Zbranek from the Czech Republic took 1st place in the men and Terezka Kejdanova (also of Czech blood) took 1st place in the women.
