The mayor of the City of Prague, Pavel Bem, is doing acclimatisation trips in Himalayas on the beginning of the the attempt to climb to Mount Everest. The Czech main stream news site iDNES reported he and his partners are in a tour in Khumbu valley. Pavel Bem, who has been a long standing active mountaineer, left his Prague office at the end of March 2007 and plans to spend about seven weeks with five members Slovak-Czech expedition in the Himalayas. Pavel Bem (43) is serving his second term in office, and is a member of the right wing party ODS. His last successful election campaign (2006) was established on his image as a Politician and a Mountaineer. He is originally a physician, and in the 90´s worked as a drugs expert.
