Czech mountaineer died in Caucasus

A Czech mountaineer died on Monday July 16, 2007 in region of Bezingi in the Caucasus, Russia.

His friends reported on our Czech version that Karel Pilch (30)- member of the Czech Mountaineering union- descended from the peak Djangitau (5058 m) in very bad weather with his wife and met 3 Russian mountaineers (2 men, 1 woman), who were very badly equiped and had troubles with the descent. The Czechs offered them help and they went down together. During the descent Pilch fell into a crevasse and did not survive. The rest of the group escaped. In spite of the large rescue action the body was not recovered.
