Festak 2007 - Film Festival | invitation |
The 24th annual International Mountaineering Film Festival (also known as Festak) is coming next week in Teplice nad Metuji (North-East Bohemia) on August 23-26 2007.Besides films there will be discussions with the elite Italian climber Jenny Lavarda, Prague mayor Pavel Bem about his climb on Everest, the Czech Cup competition in bouldering, and another contest in slack lining will take place.

From the scheduled films the documentary Sali waza should be a big hit, because it is about last years big wall ascents in Madagascar by Ondra Benes and Tomas Sobotka together with the Austrian Champion Harry Berger who tragically died recently (Madagascar).
The other tip for climbing films would be Facing Obsession, what is German movie about the extreme climbing of Stefan Glowacz and Robert Jasper in Patagonia on Cerro Murallon (Facing Obsession).
Also a French film Sahara vertical, that is about climb via wall in Ahhagar massive in Algeria (www.totempole.fr).
And yet another intresting film from Slovak Uli biaho about the extreme ascent of Dodo Kopold and Gabo Cmarik through Karakoram wall (Slovaks ascents of the year 2006).
A Specificaly sport climbing and bouldering film Robin des blocs (France) whereSteve McClure climbes the route 8c+, may be a lot of people have already seen on free DVD by Petzl, anyway it is available even on internet: (Robin des blocs).

The Czech film Jak to tenkrat vlastne bylo to the last year 100th anniversary of the first ascent on sandstone tower Jeptiska in Labak valley is in retro style and on DVD is some time also available for sale (www.horokupectvi.cz).
