Earlier this month the RRGCC (Red River Gorge Climber's Coalition) and Petzl joined forces to organize what was one of the largest outdoor climbing events since Konstein. Huh? Yeah, that's right, I said it- Konstein. Most of you will not remember the event where the American climber John Bachar wowed Europeans by soloing their projects... Anyways, the Rocktoberfest featured some of the best North American and European climbers working together to crack the enigma of some of the long standing projects in the Red...and party. About 1200 people attended the event's main party, and from the looks of things it could only had been funner if Edu himself were there. The event raised over $32,000 dollars towards the mortgage payment for the Murry-Pendergrass Preserve, a tract of land purchased by the RRGCC that contains about 40% of the climbing in the Red, with potential for more. Special thanks to Pete McDermott for being so beautiful that the author dreams about him at night, a cowboy silhouette in the light of a Miggie's campfire. And also for the pics.
