The 8th Krakow Mountain Festival is coming soon. True mountain feast starts in less than a month!

World’s best climbers, prominent mountain personalities, travelers, excellent photographers and amazing mountain films – all that to be seen on 8th Krakow Mountain Festival, 3rd to 5th December 2010 in Krakow, Poland.

On the Festival’s stage we are going to see World’s and Polish top mountaineers, big wall and sport climbers. Among this year’s climbing stars, festivalgoers will see Catherine Destivelle (The First Lady of alpinism, an icon of female climbing), Adam Ondra (remarkably gifted barely 17 year old Czech climber, regularly sending the most difficult routes) and Robert Jasper (one of the world’s most renowned ice and mixed climbers). List of the representatives of Polish climbing scene will consist of such names as: Kinga Baranowska, Piotr Pustelnik, Artur Hajzer, Krzysztof Lang and Martyna Wojciechowska.

The Krakow Mountain Festival has always been inseparably linked to film. This year, as each year before, the festivalgoers will see top-notch mountain films. Film enthusiasts will observe the struggle for Grand Prix of KFG 2010, renowned prize of the Polish Mountain Film Contest. This year, for the first time in the event’s history, the Festival will host an International Film Contest – we will see the best films from all over the world. For those loving short films, organizers prepared one more contest – Mountain Express (Gorski Ekspres)

It has become a tradition that during the Festival there is time to express recognition of exceptional achievements in alpinism and sport climbing, awarding “Jedynka” prize.

This year, as in previous years, there will be a great deal of lectures on how to stay safe in the mountains. Attending avalanche training sessions, workshops on safety in mountaineering and discussions on ecology and sustainability is a must. During the festival the adrenaline will be kept at high level thanks to boulderers competing in Polish Bouldering Championship. Apart from all that, the Outdoor Goods fair will be held throughout the time of the festival. Krakow Mountain Film is a true mountain feast that must not be missed out!
