A Czech climber died after a fall in the Austrian Alps

A 21-year-old Czech climber died yesterday after falling on the Grosses Wiesbachhorn (3,564 m) in the Hohe Tauern mountain range in Austria. This was reported by the mainstream media, citing the mountain rescue service in Kaprun. According to the service, the Czech climber apparently slipped while crossing a snowfield; his climbing partner descended safely.

The accident occurred near the Unterer Fochezkopf rock face, located at an altitude of about three thousand meters. The climbing partner descended to the Heinrich-Schwaiger-Haus mountain hut and called the mountain rescue service.
