Skály na Ještědském hřebenu jsou křemencové. Jejich geologický původ je v pískovcových usazeninách, jejichž metamorfózou vznikl křemenec, vynesený na povrch vrásněním. Skály jsou velmi pevné, členité a dovolují průstupy téměř všude. Proto je dnes nesnadné vymezit výstupové cesty. Nejcennější skály jsou v okolí vrcholu Ještědu. Některé mají charakter horských hřbetů, proto byly pojmenovány podle alpských štítů. Oblíbenými skalami jsou Krejčík, Matterhorn a Breithorn. Skály jsou max. 10 metrů vysoké, jištění téměř žádné, takže se tu leze spíše volně bez lana a bouldruje. Oblast má spíše místní význam.

Na Matterhorn a Breithorn jsme tak pred 3 nebo 4 rokama osabili nekolik nejtu. Daj se tam lezt asi 3 cesty + varinty, ktere jsou slusne odlistene. Jejich obtiznost je asi 7-8.
no možná těžší cesty jsou do 10 metrů, ale vzpomínám si, že kdysi při cyklistickém výletě jsme vysápali nějaké trojkové žebro, které mělo dobrých pětatřicet metrů
Jo bylo to čtyřkové, oslizé, obrácené na sever a začínalo sněžit.
Ala jinak: neexistuje někde na netu průvodčík? Já znám jen prastaré Nepískovcové skály v Čechách.
