Czech climber Jaroslav Bánský died in the Karakoram
Update: Unfortunately, we have received very sad news regarding the previous article about the successful expedition of three Czech climbers to the Karakoram in Pakistan. Czech climber Jaroslav Bánský died during the expedition.
Together with Zdeněk Hák and Radek Groh, he set out for the mountains with the goal of making the first ascent of a previously unclimbed 7,000-meter peak. The circumstances of the tragic incident have not yet been made public. According to the daily newspaper Blesk, the climber was struck by a falling rock yesterday while the expedition was attempting the first ascent of Mount Biarchedi II.
We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Czech mountaineering community.
