Albert fell from a Via Ferrata in the Hirschbach Valley in the Frankenjura on Sunday 26th of September and sustained severe head injuries. He was transferred in a critical condition to a hospital where he was fighting for his live for several days. He was pronounced dead yesterday at 8.45 pm. The exact cause of his fall is yet to be determined.
Kurt Albert had been climbing since the age of 14 and had made countless first ascents throughout Germany including the mega classic routes like
Fight Gravity, 8+ and
Magnet, 9, both in German Frankenjura.
The second one was formerly 9+ and it was the first route in that grade in Germany.
Kurt also had made many ascents and also many friends across the globe and will be sorely missed by the climbing community.
