The series of the international ice climbing competitions 2007 starts to the end of this week. The first part of the World Championship in ice climbing takes place on Friday January 19th in Vall di Daone, Italy. Czech participation there is expected.
Three international events on the level of the World Cup will happen in 2007, this year without the competition in Czech Republic however.
The artificial ice climbing wall in Tanvaldsky Spicak, North Bohemia, Czech Republic, where the World Cup 2006 competitiontook place, has been broken down.
The World Cup in Czech Republic will not take place and the public climbing will not be possible there either. The organizers consider about rebuilding the ice wall even for the world competition in future, if they will find enough financing.
Now in Italy on 19-20 January two climbers Jirka Pelikán and Standa Hovanec should represent Czech Republic.
After the world ice climbig elite including the two mentioned Czechs shoudl compete on February 1-2 in Saas Fee, Switzerland, where the 2nd part of the World Championship would take place.
The last competition of the World Cup category would take place on February 8-10 in Busteni, Romania.
