Igor Koller is preparing autobiography A Passion for Climbing
Slovak mountaineering legend Igor Koller is preparing to publish his autobiography, "Lezecká vášeň" (A Passion for Climbing). The book chronicles more than fifty years of his climbing, mountaineering, organizational, and publishing activities, while also providing an overview of the history of Slovak and Czechoslovak mountaineering over the past few decades.
The publication was supported by the TATRICA publishing house through a crowdfunding campaign on Donio. Just a few days after the campaign launched, the first financial milestone was reached, and by mid-June, the project had raised over 5,700 euros from more than a hundred backers. There are still 17 days left until the end of the campaign.
The planned book will be approximately 270 pages long, in a 240 × 230 mm format, and is scheduled for release this fall or winter. In addition to well-known climbs, it will also feature personal memories, stories from the mountains, insights into the climbing community, and portraits of a number of prominent Slovak and Czech climbers with whom Koller has worked throughout his career.
Igor Koller is one of the most prominent figures in Slovak mountaineering. In addition to numerous significant climbs, he was the long-time president of the Slovak mountaineering association JAMES and the author of hundreds of articles and photographs published both domestically and abroad.
